It’s a defining moment in all of our lives. That moment when you realize that “taking care of yourself” is something that you should actually take seriously. That moment when you start looking at the expression “take care” quite literally. It’s that time when you finally decided to look back on your life and have several come-to-jesus moments of self-reflection. 2017 (so far) has been that moment for me. I let go of a past that I didn’t want defining me anymore and decided to “take care” of myself. It’s a little odd for me to sum up this year considering it’s only July, but who makes these rules right? 2017 was (and still is) the year of Self-Love.
We all know that life comes with the really highs and really lows. As a blogger though, how do we deal with that? It’s only natural that when we’re on a high our creativity spikes, and when we’re low the last thing we want to do is write a word down. Breaks are ok, I may even say that they’re a necessity. Whether if it’s for a week or two or three, wouldn’t you much rather put high-quality content up instead of a post you whipped up for the sake of getting content up? When I started Nancy Sparkles, I made a promise to myself to never give up quality over quantity. I see the temptation all the time when it comes to convenience and stats, but that’s just not me and the way I want to put content out for my readers. When life gives you the lows, how do you bounce back from that? How do you keep that creativity thriving through it all? In this post I’m going to show you how I keep my fire going as a blogger and what helps me come back like nothing ever happened!
As you can imagine, I’ve been quite busy with preparing for the big move to Austin! During this rushed madness, I’ve also started buying Christmas gifts for my friends and family. I’m back today with another Sparkly Gift Guide tailored uniquely for the Holiday Hostess! Not going to lie, being a home decor snob, I would keep some of these gifts for myself haha! From cheeky champagne flutes to a cozy pom pom throw blanket, I rounded up some of the most thoughtful gifts to bring to your next holiday party!
Big things are fastly approaching. I haven’t posted as consistently as I usually do because I’ve been currently processing a huge life change that’s coming up. My boyfriend is graduating college in just a few weeks and the holidays are just around the corner. Oh and there’s one more thing…keep reading to read all about the BIG NEWS!
I’m so excited to announce my first of the many Sparkly Gift Guides to come this holiday season! In this series of guides I’ll be showing you gifts personalized for every unique person in your life. From the wine lover to the techie, I’ll be rounding up some of my fave picks perfect for every budget. To kick-off my Sparkly Gift Guide series, I rounded up some of the most fabulous gifts for the #GirlBoss in your life. A #GirlBoss, defined by Nasty Gal’s founder Sophia Amoruso, is someone who “…is in charge of her own life”. Whether if she’s on the run or crunching down emails at 6 a.m. we all admire her drive and ambition. She may be always busy, but she’ll drop anything for the ones she loves. Keep reading for more on my favorite picks for your favorite #GirlBoss!
If it’s one thing that keeps me inspired is 1)Where I live and 2)Where I work. Coincidentally, I do both at home! We recently moved to the Heights with a similar layout as the condo we used to live at, just a better floorplan and use of space. I am absolutely in love with our new place and how much it has brought out my inner-Kourtney Kardashian. The Kardashians have always been a guilty pleasure, but Kourtney’s avid love for interior design is one that I’ll always admire. Her sense of style at home is one that I’ll always keep under the tab #HomeDecorGoals. While we did decide on a 1-bedroom, our open-space floorplan allowed me to have an office nook in the living area without making it look out of place or too cluttered. I love the way it turned out and how the style of my office desk ended up tying into our new home.
When life gave me lemons, I made lemonade. Since I last blogged, we signed a lease for our new home in the Heights and I got a new job. It’s still crazy to me how in just a matter of a few weeks, my life changed in the best of ways. I got out of a situation that became so toxic that it affected all parts of my life, including my passion project (Nancy Sparkles). Through the madness of whatever that was, I learned the meaning of what loving your job really meant. It means, feeling the residual happiness all the way home, not feeling stuck with the people you work with and where you want to end up as a professional and most importantly, having the opportunity to learn. I can finally say that I now have that and more. I joined an amazing team who really gets how it is and never gets tired of empowering each other to do their best for both themselves and the agency. With that, I’m happy to finally have the energy to put towards Nancy Sparkles, my relationship and what’s going to be our new home in a few weeks! I know I have my loyal readers that keep up with my blog and I want to make this post a quick update on where I’ve been and where I’m going. I couldn’t thank any single one of you enough for sticking around during a really rough time in my life. If it weren’t for you, I would have closed this part of my life without a doubt, but I know that I owe it to you and myself to keep doing what I love. Stay tuned for my Summer Beauty Favorites in the next few days!
Until next time loves ✨
When I’m winding down the day I like to sit back, relax and take the time to read articles that I “want” to read. While my guilty pleasure does consist of celebrity gossip and silly Buzzfeed articles, I do also make it a point to keep up with industry news, self-development reads and overall articles that will keep me on my toes with what’s going on in the world beyond Hollywood. I decided to kick this Monday Sparkles up a notch by adding in a few self-help, professional reads that are worth sharing to those who can easily relate.
