It’s a defining moment in all of our lives. That moment when you realize that “taking care of yourself” is something that you should actually take seriously. That moment when you start looking at the expression “take care” quite literally. It’s that time when you finally decided to look back on your life and have several come-to-jesus moments of self-reflection. 2017 (so far) has been that moment for me. I let go of a past that I didn’t want defining me anymore and decided to “take care” of myself. It’s a little odd for me to sum up this year considering it’s only July, but who makes these rules right? 2017 was (and still is) the year of Self-Love.
We all know that life comes with the really highs and really lows. As a blogger though, how do we deal with that? It’s only natural that when we’re on a high our creativity spikes, and when we’re low the last thing we want to do is write a word down. Breaks are ok, I may even say that they’re a necessity. Whether if it’s for a week or two or three, wouldn’t you much rather put high-quality content up instead of a post you whipped up for the sake of getting content up? When I started Nancy Sparkles, I made a promise to myself to never give up quality over quantity. I see the temptation all the time when it comes to convenience and stats, but that’s just not me and the way I want to put content out for my readers. When life gives you the lows, how do you bounce back from that? How do you keep that creativity thriving through it all? In this post I’m going to show you how I keep my fire going as a blogger and what helps me come back like nothing ever happened!
It’s that time again where we’re all scrambling around to find a gift for her or him for Valentine’s Day. My biggest dilemma has always been finding the right gift that’s appropriate for the holiday. You don’t want to get anything too big, but you also don’t want to get something too little. I rounded up some of my favorite finds that fit right into that sweet spot without breaking your wallet in my Valentine’s Gift Guide for Her and Him!
Am I the only one in this world that overheats like crazy in thick sweaters and coats? Regardless if it’s freezing outside, I’ll do my due diligence to stay warm with a heavy coat or jacket. Underneath is another story. I don’t usually do long sleeves, but I’ll do a thicker short sleeve or sleeveless top to prevent myself from breaking a sweat from the heavy layers. When I found this sweatshirt, I fell completely head over heels for the material. It’s light and thin, but because it’s lined with fleece it keeps me warm when I’m outside! Paired with some knee-high boots and this became one of my more effortless chic and cozy looks for the season! Keep reading for more on how I wore these knee high boots without a sweat!
I’m so excited to announce my first of the many Sparkly Gift Guides to come this holiday season! In this series of guides I’ll be showing you gifts personalized for every unique person in your life. From the wine lover to the techie, I’ll be rounding up some of my fave picks perfect for every budget. To kick-off my Sparkly Gift Guide series, I rounded up some of the most fabulous gifts for the #GirlBoss in your life. A #GirlBoss, defined by Nasty Gal’s founder Sophia Amoruso, is someone who “…is in charge of her own life”. Whether if she’s on the run or crunching down emails at 6 a.m. we all admire her drive and ambition. She may be always busy, but she’ll drop anything for the ones she loves. Keep reading for more on my favorite picks for your favorite #GirlBoss!
In my last fashion post I showcased one of my favorite casual outfits perfect for late night study sessions. Today, I’m stirring around the same pot, just on another level of comfort. Sporty chic, daytime casual or athleisure, whatever you call it just know that it’s comfy as hell. One of the best things about reaching this level of comfort is the benefits of no frills. No need to worry about accessorizing or thinking too much about bringing your outfit together. Keep it sleek and minimal and you’re on your way to a perfect sporty casual for the fall look.
Are you currently in the middle of midterms or on a project deadline and the last thing you want to think about is what you’ll be wearing for the day? Back when I was in college, I was always all about the comfy casual look. As long as I had one less thing to worry about during midterms or finals season, I would be solid. Nowadays, project deadlines, blog posts and the occasional adult responsibilities have me reminiscing the same type stress. To help me relax, staying in a comfy casual look usually helps. Check out my latest look for everyone who is currently going through midterms season or have huge end-of-the-year project deadlines coming up!
Oh mustard. A color I never expected to like, but ended up loving…of course. I’ve never been a fan of the deeper/browner yellow hues, not on me anyways. Not until one day I decided to be adventurous on a casual trip to the mall and try it on for the sake of the seasonal colors that dawned every storefront. Surely enough, I loved it. It also didn’t help that I now have red hair which complements the mustard beautifully. Goodbyes were definitely in order to my long life beliefs of thinking this color would ever suit me.
