Quick & easy are the two things that I rate my nail polishes on. I’m always finding myself having to go somewhere as soon as I’m done painting my nails. So I’m usually fully-dependent on how fast my nails dry to determine when I can leave the house. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty impatient and I’m not one to really wait until my nails are 100% dry so I can get started on whatever I have to run out the door for. I’ve tried multiple fast-drying top coats and none of them have really dried fast enough. Even when they did, I wouldn’t get the finish that I was looking for. Finally, after many failed attempts at finding the right top coat, I found exactly what I was looking for. Keep reading for my review on the Essie Gel Couture and why it’s my current nail favorite!
Above is a pretty quick overview of the steps I take when I do my nails. I usually use a strengthening base coat just to give my nails an extra layer of protection. After a few minutes I start with the main event! For those who are wondering, I picked up the 2-piece set from CVS which came with both the polish (Gala-Vanting) and gel top coat. One of the biggest things that pulled me in about these Essie Gel Couture polishes was the brush! It’s literally the perfect size to get an even application on the first coat. I especially appreciate that there’s no fraying which can turn into a big mess and add extra clean up to the process. Essie recommends only one coat of the color polish and I couldn’t agree more. The formula of the polish was just right. It was extremely opaque and not too goopy or thin. Believe it or not, with the combination of the brush and the formula, this almost seemed like a fool-proof polish.
After the color dries, I apply the gel top coat and in just under 10 minutes, all done and dry! I timed it the first, second and third time I tested this polish out and it’s the fastest drying top coat that I have ever tried. I also don’t get the air bubbles that I got from other fast-drying top coats, which were literally the bane of my existence. As a girl who’s not really delicate with her nails, the fact that my polish didn’t start chipping until the 12th day was an all-around win for me. I’m completely impressed with the formula of both the color and the top coat! Would I buy it again? YES! I’m actually going to start buying more colors from the line because this may just become my go-to for a long while.
